Which NCC applies in Western Australia, and what CPD is available?
Western Australia adopted NCC 2025 as BCA 2025 on 1 May 2026, and BCA 2022 can still be used for most permit applications until 30 April 2027. BCA 2025 is mandatory for most applications from 1 May 2027. - Dual edition window. BCA 2025 was adopted on 1 May 2026. BCA 2022 (Amendments 1 and 2) can be used for most permit applications until 30 April 2027.
- Voluntary for a period. Under the Building Amendment Regulations (No.2) 2026 (Industry Bulletin 176), the livable housing provisions and the energy efficiency heating and cooling load limits are voluntary for a period.
- Bushfire. Bushfire requirements for some schools and early childhood centres are voluntary until 30 April 2028.
- Pool barriers. WA did not adopt AS 1926.1:2024 for pools (Industry Bulletin 175).

How condensation forms inside residential wall and roof assemblies, and how NCC 2025 addresses the risk through ventilated cavities, building membranes and climate specific design decisions.

For energy assessors: how to read a NatHERS specification that exists but says too little, and turn its words into defensible modelling inputs using the Technical Note’s evidence standard.

- Classify every line of a specification as prescriptive, performance or reference, and state what each can give a NatHERS model.
- Assess an underspecified window schedule against the Technical Note’s rules, including the three conditions for substituting a custom window.
