The NCC is national, but the day it applies and the rules around it are not.

Your state sets the switch date

Some states commenced NCC 2025 in May 2026, most follow in May 2027, and the Northern Territory has no date yet. The edition that governs your project depends on where it is.

The local rules

Some states add their own layer

Queensland runs the Queensland Development Code alongside the NCC. Western Australia has Design WA. Victoria has Clause 53.25. Miss the local layer and the set comes back.

Which NCC edition applies in my state?

As at September 2026, NCC 2025 has commenced in Victoria, Western Australia (as BCA 2025) and the ACT. It commences in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania on 1 May 2027. The Northern Territory continues on NCC 2022 with no NCC 2025 date yet. Always confirm the edition that applies to your project with your state or territory building authority.

Yes. Each CPD On Demand course is recognised CPD, worth one formal CPD point for architects and building designers, with a certificate when you complete it. For energy assessors, each assessor course is one technical CPD point. ABSA and BDAA accept CPD On Demand courses. Check how your registration body or association asks you to log it.

Yes. Every CPD On Demand course is open to anyone, wherever you practise. Many practices work across borders, and the national courses cover changes that apply in every state once it adopts NCC 2025.

No. Each CPD On Demand course is $99, paid once, with no subscription and no ongoing obligation. Your certificates are stored in your dashboard.
