Blower Door Testing for NatHERS Assessors: Reading the Result and Using It in the Rating
$99.00 GST
A client hands you a blower door report and asks what it did to their star rating. The honest answer is nothing directly, and almost everything indirectly: the blower door test is evidence about how the house was built, and the rating is a model of how it was documented.
This one hour CPD course is for NatHERS energy assessors, licensed builders, building designers, building surveyors and HVAC and building services engineers. Four short modules, two case studies and a ten question quiz, with your certificate saved to your dashboard.
Description
By the end of this course, you will be able to read a blower door test report before you trust its number, with the metric, the preparation method and the construction stage checked first. A regulation mode rating calculates its own air leakage from the components you enter, and the course shows which inputs move that figure and what the Technical Note defaults assume on your behalf. Comparing the test with the model on the same scale lets you trace a leakier result to the build and a much tighter one to the ventilation question the rating never asks. Design stage advice, a specification target the builder can price, the completion check and the conversation with the client who paid for the test are worked through in turn. Two case studies and ten scenario questions close the hour.
This CPD provides general guidance on reading blower door test results alongside a NatHERS rating. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace the NatHERS Technical Note, AS/NZS ISO 9972, the requirements of your accrediting organisation, a mechanical ventilation designer, or a building surveyor or certifier.
